Getting in and Qualifications
When applying to become an Application Engineer, qualifications at SCQF level 4/5 are often required for entry-level roles. HNC/HND or degree level qualifications are typically needed for more advanced positions.
Qualifications in the following subjects are recommended:
- Electronic Engineering
- Computer Science
- IT and Telecommunications
- Software Engineering
Other options are a Modern Apprenticeship in Software Development or IT and Telecommunications. These will give you professional industry experience also well as a recognised qualification or degree.
Membership of an industry organisation can be a valuable way to build contacts within the industry and land a suitable role.
