Esports

Meet the people behind Scotland's growing professional gaming industry. The team at Esports Scotland will be on hand to answer questions from Scottish school pupils.

There are lots of different jobs in the esports sector - you could be a professional gamer, event organiser, coach, broadcast engineer, commentator, or social media content creator. There are great opportunities for people who have creative skills, as well as technical ability.

You’ll hear about directly from the people doing these jobs, and be able to ask the questions you want answered to turn your skills into a job in gaming.

Discover Tech Skills - Live Lessons

Open the door to a life of online crime fighting in a series of new live and online cyber security lessons for P7-S4. With no technical knowledge needed, these practical classes enhance digital skills, allow pupils to ask the experts how it’s really done, and also showcase the careers available in the cyber security and resilience industry, one of the fastest growing sectors in the world today.

Lesson 3 and 4 - Cracking Passwords with Python

Your class is invited to join us for an “Hour of Code”. Get hands on and learn Python, one of the most popular computer programming languages in the world.

Help! There's been a cyber attack on video streaming site, Catflix. The culprits have stolen passwords from 1 million users and released them on the web – can you write Python code to "crack" them?

Learners will find out how companies protect our passwords and confidential information, and learn about the way cyber criminals try to ‘crack’ them.

Lesson 5 - Hide Secret Messages Using Tech

Your class is invited to learn how to prevent cyber crime whilst having fun using technology.

Steganography is the science of hiding information. You can use steganography to hide secret messages inside what looks like an innocent photograph. Cyber criminals use this technique to secretly communicate with each other, so it is important that more people understand this devious use of science and technology.

Join us for this interactive lesson to discover how steganography works and your learners will be challenged to use digital tools to uncover secret messages hidden inside digital images.
