FinTech for Schools: Scotland Programme

What is the programme?

Taking Place 2-3pm

The vision is to create a programme that drives financial health and wealth: enabling young people to gain access to basic financial know-how and enable and encourage young people to understand the importance of digital and financial know-how for the future.

The programme will run virtual sessions (lasting about an hour) with schools across Scotland to present an overview of Fintech and the impact Fintech is making (including Fintech for Good).

The sessions will talk about possible careers in Fintech including a call for pupils to consider Fintech as a future career.

The session will be delivered by industry experts, providing an educational overview on some of the hottest trends and topics in Fintech. Students and teachers will be able to connect with Fintech experts and explore the exciting world of Financial Technology.

To support student learning, we have created an app working in partnership across the ecosystem and with key industry leaders – this mobile-first platform enables students and young adults to easily gain access to information that will equip them to:

  1. Manage their own personal finances
  2. Learn about core topics such as open banking, mobile payments, cryptocurrency, and blockchain
  3. Gain insight into the career paths that are available across the FinTech and technology landscape

Included in the app are mini masterclass videos, delivered by industry experts, to provide an educational overview on some of the hottest trends and topics in Fintech.

We would encourage teachers and students to explore the app before the session and afterwards to further educate them around Fintech and related topics.

The sessions will be fun, engaging and allow students to consider career paths they may not be aware of.

Target audience would be S1-S3 but anyone with an interest in find out more about FinTech is welcome.
