Getting in and Qualifications
There are a variety of routes to develop the key skills requires for this role.
Most degrees (SCQF level 9/10) will likely require National 5 qualifications and at least 4 to 5 Highers.
Useful subjects include:
- Technologies subjects
In S5 or S6, you could also choose a Foundation Apprenticeship in Software Development as one of your subjects and develop the skills you need while you're still at school.
National Certificate and Higher National Diploma qualifications are often beneficial to becoming a DevSecOps Developer.
To begin these courses requires National 4/5 qualifications and one to two Highers. DevSecOps Developers may have degrees or even go on to pursue postgraduate studies in the following subject areas:
- Systems Administration
- Software Development
- Computer and Electronic Systems
- Computer Science
A Modern Apprenticeship in IT and Telecommunications or a Graduate Apprenticeship in Software Development could also help you get a career in DevSecOps.
